RESILIENT TOGETHER: HOW WE CAN HELP YOU MAKE EVERY DROP COUNT

At Moulton Niguel Water District, we’re committed to delivering safe and reliable water service to our customers. Through partnerships, innovation and engagement with customers like you, we’ve built resilience, so we are able to fully meet the water needs of our community no matter the challenge.

As the state faces drought conditions, we’re continuing to do our part to conserve water. In recent years, we’ve upgraded to smart meters that identify water leaks, expanded money-saving rebate programs that replace inefficient appliances, and organized one of the most successful turf replacement programs in California.

Together, we’ve conserved over 250 million gallons of water each year. This conservation has impacts not just at home, but throughout the state.

We’ve had many water efficiency successes. But we can do more. Here are 3 simple ways you can do your part to save water – and save yourself money!

Get paid to replace your grass. Customers can receive up to $4 per square foot of turf that is replaced with drought resilient landscapes. Visit MNWD.com/landscape-transformation-center to learn more about our turf replacement programs. *Artificial turf is not eligible for a turf replacement incentive.
Take our FREE home water savings survey. Unsure how to conserve? Get a personalized in-person or virtual home savings survey from one of our water experts. Visit mnwd.com/ homesavingssurvey for more information.
Avoid watering between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Evaporation peaks during daylight hours, so watering when it’s cool and not as bright will help your soil and plants retain moisture. Visit mnwd.com/watersavingtips for more water saving tips.

Now more than ever, we are Resilient Together. From water-efficient tips to rebates and workshops, we’ve compiled information on how to make every drop count at mnwd.com/resilient-together.

MICROTUNNEL PROJECT UNDER I-5 PROVIDES NEEDED INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT

Moulton Niguel Water District, along with key partners, successfully replaced approximately 1,000 feet of essential potable and recycled water pipelines under the busy I-5 freeway south of Oso Parkway in Mission Viejo. The District sought out cutting-edge technology to help protect the integrity of the freeway and surrounding communities. Using microtunneling technology, which efficiently installs pipelines underground with minimal disruptions, the District was able to maintain water services, avoid traffic disruptions, and preserve the ecological health of Oso Creek. This technology allowed the District to complete the $7.25 million project on time and under budget!

The newly implemented pipelines provide drinking and recycled water to customers on the east side of I-5, including Saddleback College, Mission Viejo Regional Medical Center and other surrounding critical care facilities. This project was made possible through key partnerships between Moulton Niguel, Caltrans, Orange County Transportation Authority, Mission Viejo Country Club, Vadnais Trenchless Services, City of Mission Viejo and local stakeholders. Investment in this critical infrastructure will bolster South Orange County’s water resilience far into the future.
