Moulton Niguel Water District is asking for the community’s help to pick up trash and clear debris this Saturday, Sept. 16 at the annual Aliso Viejo Trails & Creek Cleanup. The district, which recently launched a “TAP” Initiative to further expand community participation, will be supplying community volunteers with free water and t-shirts as they remove trash from local creeks and trails.

“We encourage our communities to join Team Moulton Niguel in cleaning our local creeks and trails,” said Moulton Niguel Water District Board President Donald R. Froelich, who will be attending the creek clean-up. The District is committed to preserving our coastal ecosystems and protecting our environment and we are looking forward to bringing more community volunteers to this event. We applaud the City of Aliso Viejo for its continued leadership in organizing this great community clean-up.”

In celebration of its 11th consecutive year of participation, Moulton Niguel Water District is issuing a community challenge: pick up a full ton – 2,000 pounds – of trash and debris that would otherwise remain at the local creeks and trails and end up in the ocean. More than 200 volunteers collected roughly 1,500 pounds of trash at last year’s event, which is organized by the City of Aliso Viejo.

“For the 11th consecutive year, Moulton Niguel Water District staff has participated in and supported the City of Aliso Viejo’s Trails and Creek clean-up events” said Moy Yahay, environmental programs manager at the City of Aliso Viejo. “We are very grateful for their continued support and partnership with the City on this important community event.”
