We are thrilled to announce that Moulton Niguel has secured a $10.3 million grant! The remarkable grant, administered by the California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) and funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program will help improve the reliability of sewer pipelines located in Laguna Niguel Regional Park.
The pipelines, originally installed in 1980, play a crucial role in transporting more than half of Moulton Niguel’s wastewater from our collection system to the local treatment plant. The project aims to reduce the chances of damage to the infrastructure during seismic and severe storm events, making the system more resilient to such events.
Moulton Niguel engineered the project to maintain uninterrupted service throughout construction. The project will also use a state-of-the-art trenchless construction technique, called microtunneling, at five creek crossings to minimize the impact on the natural environment. This critical infrastructure project is not just an enhancement; it signifies a substantial stride towards bolstering our community’s resilience to emergencies. Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this exhilarating path towards a more robust and secure infrastructure, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. |
