Reinforcing its long-standing commitment to serve in the best interest of its customers, the Moulton Niguel Water District (MNWD) Board of Directors took action at the Aug. 16, 2017 Board Meeting to launch the TAP Initiative. The TAP Initiative, which stands for Transparency, Access, and Participation, focuses on increasing transparency, expanding community participation and strengthening relationships with all its stakeholders.

The TAP Initiative comes on the heels of a historic year in the water industry, where California experienced extreme drought conditions, first-ever water reduction mandates, and permanent water use restrictions. Through these unprecedented circumstances, MNWD customers responded extremely well and demonstrated high levels of efficiency. Using this as a foundation, the TAP Initiative will build on the District’s history and commitment to service, while expanding opportunities for community participation and dialogue.

“Our customers have gone above and beyond in achieving water use efficiency, participating in our programs, and providing us with the continuous feedback, and we want to continue that momentum to optimize service to our customers,” said Joone Lopez, Moulton Niguel Water District general manager. “Our goal is to further invite feedback from the community, continue to adapt and evolve, and ultimately advance the District’s mission of ensuring water reliability for its customers.”

To commence the TAP Initiative, key objectives include forming a TAP Advisory Group, increasing transparency efforts and providing broader awareness of District activities. This will enable the District to engage with its customers through expanded communications, and encourages members of the community to remain informed and actively participate in District programs.

“As a public agency devoted to serving our ratepayers, ensuring accountability and transparency has always remained a fundamental District commitment,” said Moulton Niguel Water District Board President Donald R. Froelich. “We want to ensure that we are using all tools and technologies available to provide all our customers with relevant and accurate information, in a convenient way.”

Through the formation of the TAP Advisory Group, which will comprise of community leaders and members who serve on the District’s Citizens’ Advisory Committee, the District looks to further invite input and feedback on its services and programs on an ongoing basis.

“Enabling our customers to have more direct access to our Board and staff empowers them to provide timely feedback and remain connected with the District,” added Moulton Niguel Water District Board Member Duane D. Cave, who chaired the meeting. “With the support of our Citizens’ Advisory Committee, I look forward to expanding our participation and establishing an even greater line of communication.”

“Solidifying their commitment to their customers and the community is a commendable action by the Moulton Niguel Water District Board of Directors,” said Howard Revier, member of the District’s Citizens’ Advisory Committee who was in attendance and expressed interest in joining the TAP Advisory Group. “It is reflective of the many outstanding community programs and services that the Moulton Niguel Water District provides.”
