MNWD customer bills are calculated using MNWD’s Water Budget Based Rate Structure.  This rate structure provides each account with a calculated water budget for the appropriate amount of water necessary for the residence or business and promotes water conservation and efficient use of water.

Basic Components of Your Bill

  1. Basic Service Charge – the basic service charge is a fixed amount based on your meter size. The most common meter sizes for residential customers are 5/8″, 3/4″ and 1″ in diameter. See your water bill to verify your meter size.
  2. Water Usage Charge – the water usage charge is determined by the volumetric amount of water served to the property, and is measured in billing units (BU). One BU is equivalent to 748 gallons of water.
