$10.3 MILLION FEDERAL GRANT SUPPORTS INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT

Moulton Niguel Water District will replace nearly two miles of sewer pipelines within the Laguna Niguel Regional Park. The new pipelines are critical for the Moulton Niguel service area, as they will move over half of all wastewater collected. They will better withstand the effects of severe storms and seismic events and help to ensure continued safe and reliable services.

The project is supported by a $10.3 million federal grant, administered by the California Office of Emergency Services and funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. Moulton Niguel will utilize environmentally friendly trenchless construction methods where needed, safeguarding sensitive areas and local wildlife.

During construction, park visitors may experience some trail closures and reduced access to certain areas. Crews will work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Some specialized work may extend until 8 p.m. No work will be scheduled on holidays or during inclement weather. Trail closures will occur in phases to preserve the public’s access to walking paths and bike trails in the park as much as possible.
