Moulton Niguel Hosts First-Ever NatureScape Garden Tour

events photoThank you to everyone who attended our first-ever NatureScape Garden Tour in April! We welcomed several hundred customers and community members to join us for a self-guided journey through some of South Orange County’s most inspiring NatureScape gardens. These gardens featured watershed-friendly landscape elements, beautiful native plants, and interactive educational stations that provided information about building healthy watersheds, planting California native gardens, and what Moulton Niguel and our customers are doing to develop sustainable solutions now to address future water challenges.

The gardens featured on this tour were all a part of Moulton Niguel’s NatureScape Program that simplifies turf replacement projects by connecting customers directly with a local nursery to streamline and customize the landscape design and installation process.

How Does the NatureScape Program Work?

Each NatureScape participant receives a free landscape assessment, a 50% cost-share toward a custom landscape design, and a $3 per square foot incentive. With the streamlined format of the NatureScape Program, customers no longer have to save receipts or wait several weeks for their rebate check to arrive – the District’s incentive is applied the day the NatureScape garden is installed!

Customers can use the interactive rebate calculator found on the District’s NatureScape webpage to determine their potential project costs. Design costs are determined by the size of your total project, while the incentive is based on the square feet of turf converted to a new garden.

Ready to Tune Up Your Sprinkler System?

sprinkler systemWith summer just around the corner, now is a great time to think about water use this season and take a look at your irrigation system. Why? Plants require different amounts of water depending on the season, and your monthly water budgets reflect that.

From May through October, Moulton Niguel is offering free interactive irrigation classes to help our customers identify and resolve common irrigation issues, learn ways to avoid over-watering in the hot summer months, and learn about monthly water budgets. Our “All Things Irrigation” workshops will provide participants with hands-on experience to understand how to set your timer, set multiple start times, use the seasonal adjust feature and more!
