PROACTIVE INFRASTRUCTURE MAINTENANCE TO STRENGTHEN WATER SUPPLY RESILIENCY

Did you know drinking water is stored inside a reservoir after it is treated but before it reaches your tap? Water reservoirs are necessary to maintain water quality, control water pressure, and provide ample water supply for daily use and fire emergencies. Reservoir maintenance and rehabilitation is extremely important to ensure that the reservoirs are strong enough to withstand a natural disaster, such as an earthquake, and to ensure clean drinking water continues to flow to your tap. This is why Moulton Niguel is performing seismic retrofit improvements at seventeen reservoirs. Improvements include flexible couplings, which help pipes avoid breaking through expansion and by moving up and down, as well as ring wall extensions, which help strengthen the foundation of reservoirs to withstand forces during seismic activity. These improvements ensure the continued safety, security, and reliability of our water supply. The project is expected to be completed in June of 2023.
