Moulton Niguel Earns Top Honors from Amazon for Developing Innovative Customer Service Tools

Moulton Niguel Water District recently earned top honors from Amazon for best practices in cloud innovation, becoming the only water district in the world recognized at Amazon’s annual global innovation competition in June. Amazon Web Services recognized the District for the way it manages data to provide its customers with real-time water use information, in an effort to save them money.

Over the last year, Moulton Niguel launched a proactive, water-monitoring tool to provide customers with hourly water consumption data, which are hosted on Amazon’s web platform. Under a pilot program that was partially funded by a grant received from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, every customer now has access to an online customer portal, which provides an analytics platform, user-friendly dashboards and the ability to track individual water use.

Moulton Niguel Receives 9th Consecutive Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting

For the ninth consecutive year, Moulton Niguel Water District has been honored for excellence in financial reporting. The Government Finance Officers Association awarded Moulton Niguel with its prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.

This award recognizes government agencies that provide taxpayers with transparent financial reports that go beyond the generally accepted accounting guidelines. In order to qualify for the financial reporting honor, public agencies must submit their Comprehensive Annual Financial Report to a rigorous independent review by financial experts.

The award has added significance this year as it coincides with the district’s transparency initiative. Last fall, the Moulton Niguel Board of Directors created its TAP program to formally codify the district’s longstanding commitment to public TransparencyAccess and Participation.
