We held our third annual Live Smart Community Event on Saturday, May 13th at the Laguna Niguel Civic Center. Several hundred people attended the free community event with numerous exhibitors and activities for all to enjoy. As a community, we constantly strive to “live smart” with technology, devices, and apps – and certainly with the way we use water. Our Live Smart event is a great example of how MNWD strives to work with its community to save water, energy and money.

As California looks to adopt a permanent, long-term water-efficient lifestyle, the Live Smart Community Event showcased several technologies and tools to assist residents and businesses in achieving this goal, such as: MyWater MNWD, a web and app-based portal to help MNWD customers manage and take control of their water usage; Smart Irrigation Timers that automatically adjust the amount of water needed in response to changing weather conditions; and much more.

New to this year’s event, MNWD provided resources and information to ensure communities are prepared for emergencies. Whether the region is experiencing extreme drought or flooding, thorough preparation will help protect residents during and after a disaster. MNWD also had District vehicles such as its Mobile Support Center and several of its service trailers onsite, in addition to Orange County Sheriff’s Department and Orange County Fire Authority, for all to see and enjoy.

Event sponsors included AKM Consulting Engineers, Dudek, Ferreira Construction, Kennedy Pipeline, Lee & Ro, Paulus Engineering, Rachio, and Tetra Tech. We thank them and the additional event exhibitors and activities – which included cities and non-profit organizations, home and garden activities, gas and energy utilities, technology companies, and water and environmental services – for their contributions that made our event such a success!

We have posted a Facebook photo album highlighting some of the interactive activities that our communities enjoyed! We hope you enjoyed the fun-filled day and gained ideas and resources to become more water-wise and energy-efficient!
