Remaining within a water budget is easy, and we’re here to help. Here are six simple steps if your water use has exceeded your water budget:
1.
Request a FREE Savings Survey
MNWD’s conservation team is available to visit your home or business, review your outdoor watering practices, discuss your indoor use and recommend easy ways to save water and money by becoming more efficient. Savings Surveys are free and only take about 30 minutes to complete. Click here to schedule an appointment.
2.
Take Advantage of Rebates
You can receive hundreds of dollars in rebates by purchasing water-efficient products, including toilets, washing machines and weather-based irrigation controllers. Click here to learn more.
3.
Water to Meet the Needs of Your Plants
Most plants, including your lawn, require far less water than the average homeowner typically gives them. Lawns only need four to six minutes of watering one or two days per week during fall and winter. If you see water running off your lawn onto the sidewalk and curb, you’re watering too much.
4.
Attend a FREE Workshop
MNWD hosts regular workshops to help customers become water-efficient and learn how to easily remain within a water budget. Click here to view the next scheduled meeting.
5.
Look For Leaks
Leaks are the most common source of wasted water. Check your toilets and sprinkler systems to make sure they’re working properly. MNWD can provide you with complimentary toilet dye tabs to check for toilet leaks. Please call the District at (949) 831-2500 to make a request. Also, if you find wet patches on your lawn when the sprinklers aren’t running, you likely have a leak.
6.
Review Your Budget
Review your water bill to see the details of your water budget, and call (949) 831-2500 or click here to request any necessary adjustments.
