Outdoors

• Don’t Over Water Plants and Lawns
Too much water harms landscaping and wastes water.

• Water Landscaping When It’s Cool
The best time to water is at night or early morning to
reduce evaporation.

• Adjust Sprinklers and Timers
Check your sprinklers and timers to save time and water. Adjust
your sprinkler for proper aim and check for clogged nozzles.

• Chose Native Plants and Other Water-Smart Landscaping
A water-smart garden features plants that do well in our local
environment. These plants can be beautiful and use less water.

• Mulch, Mulch, Mulch
A two- or three-inch layer of shredded redwood, gravel or
other mulch slows evaporation, cools and protects the soil
and keeps down weeds. And it looks great, too.
