MNWD Conservation Program
MNWD adopted a Water Conservation Program in 2009 that calls for increasing levels of conservation, implemented as needed to meet our region’s water-supply challenges. The District is currently at the Conservation Level, which requires customers to follow a series of 12 simple water-use rules that ensure we use our resources as efficiently as possible, including:
- Watering is limited to no more than a maximum of ten minutes per day,
per station. This does not include drip irrigation or high-efficiency
sprinkler systems.
- Excessive watering resulting in runoff is prohibited
- No hosing down hard or paved surfaces
- All major leaks, breaks or malfunctions must be fixed in 72 hours
- Fountains and decorative water features must use re-circulated water
- A bucket or hose with a positive shutoff nozzle must be used when washing
vehicles
- Restaurants will serve water only upon request
- Hotels must provide the option to not launder linens daily
- New water service will not be provided to structures using
single-pass cooling systems
- New commercial laundry and carwash systems must install recirculating
potable water systems
- Restaurants are required to use water conserving dish wash spray
valves
