Accountability and Transparency
MNWD is committed to maintaining an open and honest dialogue with customers about our operations and finances. The District works hard every day to earn the trust that has been entrusted to us by the local community, and we pledge to provide safe, reliable water and wastewater service in an open and transparent manner.
We want to make sure that our financial information is easy to find and that our customers understand the value of the services we provide, so we invite you to explore our website and the content below, and contact us at (949) 831-2500 or webmaster@mnwd.com if you would like to learn more.
Our Value
MNWD provides water, wastewater and recycled water services to a population of more than 172,000 within a 36.5-square-mile area across portions of five cities. The District maintains more than 1,400 miles of pipelines, 38 reservoirs and 37 booster stations to ensure our customers a reliable water supply.
MNWD is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors that establishes the policies of the District and appoints the General Manager, who oversees the day-to-day operations of the organization. The Board of Directors’ conservative fiscal leadership has allowed MNWD to maintain one of the lowest water rates and strongest credit ratings in Orange County, and the District’s efficient staff gets more done with less, as the organization has one of the lowest customer-to-staff ratios among the region’s water providers.
Our Transparency
Since our incorporation in 1960, MNWD has worked closely with our customers in an open and honest manner to build the highest level of public trust. MNWD’s Board of Directors conducts several committee meetings each month plus one Board meeting a month in a public forum. All Board member and employee compensation, including salaries and benefits, are adopted by the Board of Directors in a public meeting process where our customers always have an opportunity to review and comment.
The public is encouraged to attend the Board of Directors meetings, which are held on the third Thursday of each month, at 5:30 p.m. at our District headquarters. For information on meeting dates, agendas and minutes click here.
