Efficiency Drives MNWD’s Fleet Services Department

Customers are used to seeing MNWD’s white trucks throughout our service area. In fact, they’re one of the most visible ways customers know the District is hard at work maintaining reliable water and wastewater service. Behind the scenes is a dedicated team that keeps those trucks running, which helps ensure our water keeps running as well.

MNWD’s Fleet Services Department oversees the task of maintaining the District’s 91 vehicles, 32 emergency generators (which keep water pumping during power outages) and a number of small tractors. This crew of two mechanics performs regular maintenance, coordinates DMV paperwork and ensures compliance with emissions and other environmental regulations. The Fleet Services Department mechanics are ASE certified, well trained in diesel maintenance and are certified welders.

The Department’s efforts keep the MNWD fleet in top condition and our water service crews in the field. Utilizing District staff to maintain the fleet saves time and money over sending the vehicles out for service, and reduces the number of vehicles MNWD needs.
